Millions of years ago, volcanic ash settled into lakes and seas. Under pressure and time, that ash crystallised into zeolite — a mineral with a microscopic honeycomb structure unlike almost anything else in nature.
That honeycomb is the whole point. Each crystal is laced with tiny channels that attract and hold on to impurities: excess oil, pollution particles, everyday residue. Scientists call it adsorption — things bind to the surface instead of being absorbed inside.
The form we use, clinoptilolite, is the most studied member of the zeolite family. Ours comes from European deposits and is micronised — ground to an ultra-fine cosmetic grade — then quality-tested batch by batch in the EU.
In independent ISO-standard testing, our zeolite bound heavy metals such as cadmium, mercury and arsenic on contact. In cosmetics, that same binding action works on a gentler scale: lifting impurities and excess sebum from skin and scalp without stripping them.
That is why zeolite behaves differently from clays. Clays soak up oil indiscriminately; zeolite is selective, which is why formulas built on it cleanse deeply yet leave the skin feeling comfortable rather than tight.
Every ZEO product starts from this mineral. The shampoo uses it to clear build-up from the scalp, the mask to draw impurities from pores, the cream to support a clean base under daily protection.
Nature already designed the filter. We just made it fine enough for skin.
